Looking for ways to entertain the kids on weekend? Head to Victoria Harbour in Docklands where there are events for kids of all ages, and most are free!
Code Club is back
Code Club Australia is running engaging workshops for kids aged between 7 and 12 on basic coding. These activities are great for developing problem solving skills and invigorating young minds out of school hours.
Catch a movie at the pop-up Park Cinema
Enjoy a movie under the summer stars at the Victoria Harbour pop-up outdoor cinema. Beginning 26 January and running every Friday for six weeks, classic movies will be streamed on the big screen in Buluk Park, and kids of all ages are invited. Tickets to this event are free, so bring a low deck chair or rug and a BYO picnic basket and book your family a spot today.
Get slimy with TwistED Science
Library at the Dock is hosting a day of sensory play and learning with a slime making workshop for kids aged between 5 and 12 on Wednesday 24 January. Children can put their hands and minds to work as they create their very own oozy, bouncy alien slime. Spaces are limited so booking is essential.
Have a BBQ on the water with Aqua Donut
Leave holiday leftovers behind and head down to the water for a BBQ – except this time, it’s on a boat! A relatively new addition to the Docklands community, Aqua Donuts are sturdy boats with built-in BBQ stations, a Bluetooth music system and speakers for entertaining families and guests on the river. Take a stress-free, scenic trip through Melbourne’s waterways as you celebrate and cook to the start of a new year.
Have a laid-back Library day
Library at the Dock
is a state-of-the-art, interactive facility where kids can escape the everyday and get lost between the pages of a good book, play a game of table tennis, rent a movie or explore the world of art and music. There’s plenty to keep the adults entertained too.
