Exploring the Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack
The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) will be taking over Melbourne from 2 – 19 August with an exciting program of films, educational events and lively discussions.
As part of this year’s program, the popular Melbourne music podcast, Art of the Score, will be hosting an exclusive MIFF Talk at Library at the Dock on Saturday 4 August, in partnership with Victoria Harbour and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO).
This free event will see the panel of music experts explore Benjamin Wallfisch and Hans Zimmer’s music from Denis Villenueve’s 2017 film, Blade Runner 2049, and how it both compliments and contrasts Vangelis’s iconic score from Ridley Scott’s original 1982 film, Blade Runner.
The panel includes Dan Golding, a critic and academic who co-hosts What is Music for ABC; Andrew Pogson, a producer and jazz musician who is also Senior Manager for Special Projects with the MSO and their special guest, Seja Vogel, a synth-music expert and professional musician.
Together, they aim to explore, demystify and celebrate some of the greatest soundtracks of all time and take you on a journey through the aural world of Blade Runner.
While this is a free event, spaces are limited so booking is essential. Head over to the MIFF website to view their full program and reserve your tickets now.
