What’s on at Library at the Dock in March?

23 March 2017

The Library at The Dock is one of Victoria Harbour’s best-loved community spaces. Not only is it home to a vast collection of books, but it offers a variety of community workspaces, free seminars, a gallery, and even a performance space.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere quiet to study, a place to grab a coffee and enjoy the relaxing harbour views, or a space to learn something new, the Library at The Dock is the perfect place to do it.

With a dynamic program of events on offer each month, there are plenty of activities on offer right on your doorstep. We’ve chosen our favourite events taking place over the next few weeks - why don’t you head down and explore!

  1. Escape from the everyday with a Virtual Reality experience
    Sunday 26th March | Free

Looking for a bit of escapism? Immerse yourself in virtual reality and be whisked away to another world where you can shoot lasers at robots falling from the sky or travel around the globe via Google Earth with a HTC Vive VR headset.

  2. Sunday Jazz with the Sugarfood Ramblers
    Sunday 26th March | Free

Treat yourself to a slow Sunday with the Library at the Dock’s Sunday Lounge Jazz sessions. One of the library’s most popular monthly events in March, you’ll be transported to a 1920’s style jazz garden party, with original boogie and traditional jazz from the Melbourne-based band the Sugarfoot Ramblers.

  3. Try your hand at table tennis
    Tuesday 28th March | Free

Table tennis might not be the first sport that comes to mind when you’re thinking about improving your fitness, but it is a physically and mentally challenging game which tests your reflexes as much as your stamina. Whether you’re new to the sport or an old hand, everyone’s welcome at this open table tennis session at the Library’s Terrace.

  4. Love, live, laugh with Victoria Harbour’s Laughter Club
    Saturday 1st April | Free

There’s a reason they say laughter’s the best medicine! Laughter clubs are growing in popularity around the world, and are a unique way of improving your wellbeing. Laughter therapists Jim Lord and Mahes Karuppiah-Quillen are on hand to help you discover the natural high of aerobic laughter exercises, ensuring you leave the session feeling de-stressed, happy and alive.
