What’s on at Knowledge Market in October?

19 October 2016

Knowledge Market at Victoria Harbour is home to some of Australia’s most inspirational mentors and facilitators. Anyone living in, working at or visiting Victoria Harbour is welcome to sign up for a workshop to learn new skills, meet new people and share creative thinking and ideas – you won’t be disappointed!

We take a look at some of the courses taking place at Knowledge Market over the next month…

Story Sparks’ children’s storytelling workshop | Saturday 22 October

Join Story Sparks’ workshop for aspiring children’s book writers who are keen to learn more about the children’s publishing industry and engage with other writers. Run by Bernadette Kelly, an established children’s author with over 35 published books, the workshop is a supportive environment where you can get expert hints and tips on the craft.

As well as practical guidance, the workshop will also feature a talk from guest speaker Glenda Millard, an internationally renowned author of children’s picture books and novels. You’ll be able to tap into Glenda and Bernadette’s wealth of industry knowledge and experience to help you with your future writing. Feel free to bring along a piece of work to discuss during the workshop, as well as a pen and notepad to jot down all your ideas!

Boost your confidence and befriend your inner critic | Tuesday 26 October

Have you ever had a voice inside you telling you that you’re not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, or fit enough? Telling you that you’ve not achieved as much as you think you have, that you shouldn’t aspire to meet certain goals because you’ll never make it? Say hello to your inner critic.

Instead of fighting this voice, now’s the time to turn it into your best ally. Run by Crystal Lam, a transpersonal art therapist, the workshop will help you to identify your inner critic’s voice, understand its rationale and begin to negotiate with it. No artistic experience is needed, just an open mind.

Start your journey of self-discovery with clearing | Tuesday 26 October

Self-clearing is a personal development technique aimed to help you emotionally and energetically heal, release, realign and grow. The workshop is run by Chloe Prendergast, a Melbourne-based life and business coach specialising in emotional intelligence and work/life balance.

Chloe creates a positive environment for you to identify patterns of behaviour which are holding you back from achieving your goals. The session will empower you to go on a journey of discovery to find out what it is you really want and start making effective changes.

Speaking to stand out | Sunday 13 November
