Destination Docklands are running the ‘Shades of winter’ photo competition this July and August.

Entry is free and open to all, whether you’re a budding amateur snapper or seasoned professional photographer; we want to see Docklands through your eyes. The competition aims to capture Docklands in winter from a range of perspectives and in different lights; images can comprise of anything in Docklands – scenery, people, places, activities, sport, shopping, animals, dining, entertainment, water – the list is endless.

A cash prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the winner of the adult category and $500 will be awarded to the winner of the youth category (under 16 years) along with the opportunity to feature in a Docklands photo exhibition later this year.

Kelly Jensen Events and Engagement Manager at Destination Docklands said “There are many great opportunities to capture Docklands beauty this winter; with dazzling fireworks presented by City of Melbourne taking place on Victoria Harbour every Friday night in July and August, cute and cosy markets every Sunday on New Quay Promenade, winter school holiday excitement at Wonderland Fun Park and Harbour Town Shopping Centre, the best AFL teams in the league firing up at Etihad Stadium every week and monthly state ice hockey matches at Medibank Icehouse, there is always something happening in Docklands”.

So, take a flight on the Melbourne Star and capture Docklands from a greater angle, sit waterfront at some of Melbourne’s best cafes, bars and restaurants and capture the beauty of our Harbour, lay in the grass in one of the many Docklands green areas or show us your sporting prowess on one of the free sporting courts. Take a snap of your favourite piece of public artwork, bridges and personalities or simply seize the opportunity to show us how you enjoy Docklands, inspiring others to do the same.

For your chance to win, submit your entries to as attached JPEG files with the subject line ‘Shades of winter’ and indicate if it is a youth or adult entry. Please include your name, address, phone number, photo title and a short description of the photo along with the date it was taken in the body of the email. All entries must be copyright free, taken between the dates of July 1 and August 31 2014 and be the work of the entrant.
