The work behind the glamour. A design themed around the renowned Myer brand and status, influencing the design of both the building’s interior and facade. 15stories of semi-opaque glass create a striking minimalism visual affect.

Designed by BVN Architecture in conjunction with Lend Lease, this 5 Star Green Star Office design, with certification from the Green Building Council of Australia, captures the timeless elegance of the Myer brand and status as a cultural icon. Adopting their black and white colour palate and subtle qualities that reflect their flagship Bourke St store. The interior theming centres around an exploration of 100 years of fashion, art, music and popular culture – with each of the ten levels reflective of a particular decade.

Accommodating over 1,00 employees over ten levels, this state-of-the-art building offers 119 meeting rooms, large outdoor terraces, a fully equipped gymnasium, sundeck and childcare centre.

Sustainability initiatives for the building include a feature east facing atrium with interconnecting stair, maximising light penetration and reducing lift traffic. A low-temperature low-flow air distribution system was designed to minimise discomfort caused by draughts while providing a 50 per cent increase in fresh air compared to a standard building.

The building also features a gas fired cogeneration plant which produces approximately 30 per cent of base building electricity requirements and reduces peak demand. Waste heat is used for space heating and generating domestic hot water. The variable air volume air conditioning system and lighting control system will drastically cut energy use.

In addition, rainwater is collected from the roof and used for flushing toilets and back of house wash-down. 115 bicycle spaces have been installed in the building, encouraging sustainable transport options.
